Stress-Free Decision Making
Have you ever had a tough time making a decision? Maybe you’ve had a gut feeling, or an intuition, but have felt unsure about following it. How do you know when it’s just your mind talking, and when it’s solid intuition you can trust?
How do you know if it’s your Higher Self talking? I just made a 4.5 minute audio of a decision making process I use to answer that question once and for all – so I can trust that the decisions I make are coming from the best part of myself, not just worry or mind chatter. It’s an “Audio Postcard” and you can listen to it here: Audio Postcard
Here’s the process I use in text form:
Start by getting comfortabale, sitting with legs and arms uncrossed, and spine gently aligned. Relax your shoulders, neck and jaw, and anywhere else there may be tension.
Take a few deep breaths. On the inhale, imagine you’re breathing in fresh energy; on the exhale, breathe out stress and tension. Breathe in relaxation; breathe out tired, stagnant energy. Breathe in peace; breathe out any worry or mind chatter. Let yourself sink into relaxation and peace.
Imagine now that you’re in a favorite place. It could be a beautiful place in nature, on the beach, among the trees, at the lake, or it may be simply a special room you love. Here’s a place I love:
Now, say out loud to yourself, ” I love this place. I LOVE this place.” Watch what happens in your body. Do you feel lighter, with less tension in your face, back or neck? Are you smiling? How about your emotions – how do you feel? (Good, warm, peaceful…)
Great. Now take a deep breath, and release it – letting that go. Settle back into your beautiful place. Now, say out loud to yourself, “I hate this place. I HATE this place!”
What happens in your body now? Are you feeling uneasy, surprised, or tense in any way? Notice what your body is telling you. Not comfortable, is it?
OK, now take another deep breath in, and exhale to let that go. Move back into your beautiful place, and say once more, “I love this place.” Notice how good it feels to tell the truth to yourself.
Now for the decision-making part:
Bring to mind a question you’ve been asking yourself – something you want to decide. The first few times you do this, pick something easier, not a major life-changing question – that can come once you’ve practiced a few times! It’s best to phrase the question so the answer is either Yes or No; choice A or B.
Whatever your question is, pick one of the possible answers, A or B, whether you’re sure about it or not. Now say it out loud, like this: “Yes, I am definitely going to choose A.”
Notice how your body and your energy system respond. Do you feel lighter, peaceful, more relaxed, curious, or open? Or, did you notice a sinking feeling in your stomach, tension, worry, or a frown coming on? Your Higher Self has just sent you an important message.
If something feels uplifting, peaceful, lighter and relaxing, then it’s most likely the right decision for you at this time. If not, either let it go, look deeper, or wait for a better time.
Many people will get a positive response, and then have their mind chatter or “little voices” chime in and start questioning the response. Don’t worry, that’s normal. The more you practice, the easier it gets to recognize when it’s wisdom from your higher self, and when it’s just those “little voices.”
Please try it out at home ( you can listen to audio version at the Audio Postcard link above) and post your comments below to let me know how it worked for you – or with questions. Enjoy!
P.S. This spring I’m offering a 1 Day seminar & Retreat called Higher Self Mastery, designed to take this process much deeper. It will be a live event, as well as something you can watch over the internet as it happens. By the time it’s over, you will have identified a specific body signal unique to you, which will let you know without a doubt that you are listening to your highest and best self.
Why would you want to know this? Because the biggest block to having what you want is not knowing what you want. When you learn to listen to the wisdom you already have inside you, this problem goes away, and you know what to do in any situation. No matter what’s going on in your life circumstances, you feel peaceful because you now have an anchor – the ability to trust your hunches and higher self guidance.
From there, it’s much easier to trust your own inner knowing whenever you need to make a decision that’s important to you. You start to see how it feels to LIVE from a more aware, conscious place, your Higher Self , instead of being taken over by your “little voices,” or old mental programming.
I’ll be adding details and a link where you can find out more soon; just check the Events Calendar tab at the top of the page.

Kay, thanks for that beautiful audio, interestingly my spot was next to water as well. Our bodies do know and I’m grateful for this lovely, peaceful reminder.
